Coaching Services
Birth Processing coaching services are not therapy* and are available to clients living anwhere! Available as ongoing sessions or as an intensive package.
Something happened.
Maybe you know the exact moment; maybe you have no idea. The details might be seared into your mind, or it might feel like a black hole and no matter how hard you try, you can’t bring the memories back to the surface. Maybe it’s been just a few weeks, or maybe it’s been years.
But somewhere, somehow, along the way, something happened in your birth story, and your body holds the story.
If you’re ready to explore your birth story: How We Hold It Coaching is for you. Using my education and understanding of how the brain processes and holds traumatic memory, we’ll go back to your birth story and excavate the details together. You’ll have a witness, and I guide the pacing in our work to provide the scaffolding you need to safely process the story you’ve been carrying alone, or been dismissed in. If you’ve been wondering things like “will I ever get over this?” “why can’t I seem to let this go?” or “is there something wrong with me?”--you aren’t broken, there’s nothing wrong with you, and there’s help right here.
To learn more about the way I view birth stories and birth trauma, you can listen to my interview on the VBAC Link Podcast, Episode 457. My interview begins around minute 11, including one of my own birth trauma stories. In this episode, I share why a story can feel traumatic even if it “looks perfect” in a medical chart, why I don’t rank stories as better or worse than others, how grief is part of birth story processing, and more.
Frequently Asked Questions

In coaching: I will not do any diagnosing, and I do not work with clients who are in severe distress and in need of acute mental health care. Coaching is often shorter duration, is focused on a specific issue, and tends to stay in the present tense, whereas counseling often lasts longer, covers a broader scope, and covers topics such as family of origin.

I know this answer stinks—but it honestly depends! I work so hard to work at the pace your body allows us to go, and not rush or push in places that will be too activating. It’s really important to me to keep you as safe as possible through this process, which means I can’t really put a timeline on it. It also means for you—I won’t be rushing you, and there’s no deadline. We will always be working together to make sure the pace is appropriate and you feel good about the work we are doing.

These sessions are for YOU. If you want/need your baby there, then YES. And babies can be fed however you’d like to feed them, too! This is about you and your comfort. If having your baby there makes it more difficult for you to focus and connect to me, then having childcare might make it easier for you. However, if being separated from your baby causes you anxiety or difficulty, then having your baby with you may be better. YOU choose what is best for you. I’m happy to accommodate whatever that is.
